CBI: Complete Body Integration
2.5 days 20 contact hours
Prerequisites: FM I
Course Overview
This course will train the participant to evaluate and treat mechanical, neuromuscular and motor control dysfunctions of the complete body through the use of Functional Movement Patterns (FMPs).
Required Pre-Course Preparation Work: None
Required Equipment: All participants should bring:
8 ft Mobilization Belt. 1.5" x 8' mobilization belt. You may order one from IPA or from a number of other providers. Orders that are received three weeks prior to a course, and clearly request shipment to a course, may be shipped directly to the course. All other orders will be shipped to the address given on the order. Order Mobilization Belt
Supplies are shipped 2-3 weeks prior to the course. Orders placed after the supplies have shipped will incur a fee to expedite your order, and may include charges for faster shipping.
Recommended Reading
Illustrated Anatomy Book. It is recommended that each participant bring an illustrated anatomy book, or an electronic anatomy book app, to the course. We recommend Netter FH. Atlas of Human Anatomy. East Hanover, MNJ. Novartis 1977. Online anatomy applications work well if you have a way to access them during the course. Other illustrated anatomy books are acceptable. Atlas of Human Anatomy books may be ordered on Amazon.com or www.us.elsevierhealth.com/netter/
It is required that each participant reviews the Bibliography and read any article they are unfamiliar with prior to the course.

Approach Description
Under the direction of Gregory S. Johnson, PT, FFFMT, FAAOMPT and CBI faculty, the participant utilizes dynamic treatment strategies and Functional Movement Patterns (adapted from FeldenkraisTM ATM lessons) to evaluate and treat each region of the body, including viscera. Emphasis is on passive and active associated movements while performing soft & tissue and joint mobilization (Functional MobilizationTM) in non-weight bearing and weight bearing positions. These strategies provide avenues to study and comprehend the interrelationships of the kinetic chain and the effectiveness of enhancing function as a foundation for treating complex orthopedic problems. Cost of the course includes an extensive manual with over 250 pictures of techniques and an IPA plunger. This course presents dynamic Functional MobilizationTM treatment strategies for each region of the body to assist in the management of complex orthopedic dysfunctions. Building on the skills of FM I, these strategies develop from an understanding of the efficient and inefficient interrelationships of the kinetic chain.
Objectives
~ Develop skills of full body evaluation and treatment
~ Develop specific FM progression strategies to enhance functional capacity of the complete body
~ Dynamically incorporate passive, active, and resisted associated movements with joint and soft tissue mobilization integrated with functional neuromuscular training.
~ Integrate FMP’s into your treatment program
~ Develop strategic evaluation and treatment skills to enhance regional interdependence of the complete body
~ Discuss the evidence for the FMP material.
