Bio
Megumi Sawanoi grew up in Japan and came to the United States in 1988. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1994 with master’s degree in physical therapy. After working in acute care, in-patient rehabilitation, and a skilled nursing facility, she started working at outpatient clinics in 2000. She passed the level IV exam of the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) and became a Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (COMT) in 2006. She completed her fellowship training through NAIOMT in 2008 and obtained Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Pacific university in Oregon in 2009. Her quest to improve her skill and knowledge in physical therapy continued, and she became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through Institute of Physical Art (IPA) in 2015. She has been a faculty member of the IPA since 2016 and teaches in Japan and the United States.
Megumi currently works for PT Pro in Redmond, Washington. She primarily treats patients with orthopedic conditions and pelvic floor conditions. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, son and cat.
