Brian Hauswirth graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in 1981. He continued his education with advanced programs through the Orthopedic Manual Therapy Program at Folsom Physical Therapy (Folsom, CA) 1986 and the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program at the Institute for Movement Studies (Berkeley, CA) from 1989 - 1993. Mr. Hauswirth began working as a physical therapist specializing in spinal cord injury, at Wood Veterans Administration Medical Center (Milwaukee, WI)in 1981. He became a Senior Staff Therapist in the Neurosurgery /Neurology Department in 1982 . From 1982 to 1985 Brian Hauswirth was a Clinical Instructor for Senior Therapy Students at Wood VA Medical Center.During this time, Mr. Hauswirth began a specialization in Orthopedics. In 1984, Brian attended Functional Orthopedics I and II with Gregory S.Johnson. In 1985, he relocated to California and began working under Mr.Johnson at his private practice in Kentfield, CA. Mr. Hauswirth worked as a consultant and independent contractor at Preventative and Rehabilitation Therapy (1985 - 1993) and Advanced Physical Therapy, San Francisco, CA(1991 - 1993). Mr. Hauswirth has extensive experience in teaching and course design. He developed and began teaching "The Foam Roll Approach" (Integrating Function, LLC) in 1989. This course was taught through the Institute of Physical Art from 1989 - 1996. The course is still offered through Integrating Function, LLC. He produced the Video Teleconference, "The Foam Roll Approach" for the Rehab Training Network in 1996. Mr. Hauswirth has been an Adjunct Professor for Touro College, Bayshore, NY since 1997. He has been a Primary Instructor and Trainer for Functional Orthopedics I since 1985, and is an Instructor for FO II. In addition to clinical and continuing education experience, Mr. Hauswirth has authored several articles. He also owns and operated Integrating Function Foam Rolls, LLC, also in Larkspur, CA. Brian is married to his wife of 26 years, Teri, which qualifies her for sainthood! They have two children, Anna, an MD/PhD student at UCSF (BS 2011 from Stanford University), and Joseph, a Food Scientist at Mondelez International in New Jersey) (BS 2013 from Cornell University). Brian loves to bike and debate pretty much anything. His latest rant was published August of 2013 in the op-ed pages of the Wall Street Journal.
